A beautiful souvenir, cast in bronze, that can also be used as a paperweight. This is a bird from the Book of Kells, an Irish national heritage artefact which contains lavishly decorated copy, in Latin, of the four gospels. Probably produced early in the 9th century, at Kells, Co Meath from where it was moved for safe-keeping from Viking raids. Its current location is at Trinity College, Dublin, where it has lived since 1653. Measures 2.5" square and is 1" deep (6x6x1.5cm) and is presented in a box.
