The famous Claddagh, inspired by the history of the ancient fishing kings of Claddagh, a small fishing village just outside Galway in the West of Ireland. Their symbol meant 'in love and friendship, let us reign'. This consists of a heart, for love, enclosed by a pair of hands, for friendship, and the crown for the reign. By the 17th century this symbol had become very fashionable between lovers and friends. A beautiful piece of jewellery, in a pewter/silver mix, and a true Irish gift. Measures 5cm x 2.5cm.
