The Wild Goose Studio in Kinsale Co. Cork Ireland has been designing and making gifts to inspire the imagination since 1969. Together with leading Irish artists, it has created this unique range of beautiful wall plaques which combine heritage with the contemporary. Inspired by Irish and Celtic myths, legends and history, all their pieces are handmade by skilled craft- workers and finished in pure bronze. By drawing on Irish and Celtic mythology, symbols, stories, images and poetry, they inspire the imagination. The designs include studies of existing sculptures, developments of them and original creations by their own artists. Each re-imagines the past, present and so the future. The Wild Goose Studio is a team of Irish artists and craft-workers who take pride in producing objects of beauty with that creative spark. All of these pieces are handmade by skilled craft-workers using a cold cast method. Each plaque has a shell of pure cast bronze backed by a resin and ceramic core. Any variations in finish are part of its appeal. These bronze plaques can be placed outdoors where they may acquire a green patina over time. They can be left to age naturally or polished occasionally with a soft cloth and beeswax to retain their shine. Each one is supplied in a superb presentation box and has a label that explains its origins and significance. They make a wonderfully Irish gift, perfect as a very original wedding gift or, maybe, an inspired gift for a new home, Irish or not.

Skellig Island Stone Hut Candles

These gorgeous handmade Irish candles have the most amazing detail and fine craftsmanship. They are incredibly accurate and lifelike miniatures of the famous stone oratory and beehive huts found on the Skellig Islands off the Kerry coast in South West Ireland. These huts were built in the sixth century when, with the introduction of Christianity to Ireland, they formed a monastery. The monastery consisted of a small enclosure of these stone huts and oratories, which still stand to this day on the island. Although it is not known who is the founder of the monastery,tradition gives it to St. Fionan.

These candles are, like the Beach Pebble Candles, skilfully handmade in Kilkenny, Ireland. They are available in either a dark or light stony grey and the dome shaped beehive huts are in two sizes.
